What is the difference between silicone seals and rubber seals?

Silica gel (Silica gel; Silica) alias: Silicone rubber is a highly active adsorption material, an amorphous substance, and its chemical formula is mSiO2·nH2O. It is insoluble in water and any solvent, has stable chemical properties, and does not react with any substance except strong alkali. Various types of silica gel form different microporous structures due to their different manufacturing methods. The chemical composition and physical structure of silica gel determine that it has many characteristics that are difficult to replace by other similar materials: high adsorption performance, good thermal stability, stable chemical properties, and high mechanical strength.

Silica gel is divided into macroporous silica gel, coarse pore silica gel, B-type silica gel, and fine pore silica gel according to the size of its pore size.

Rubber is a material with elasticity, insulation, impermeability to water and air made by extracting latex from plants such as rubber trees and rubber grass. A highly elastic polymer compound. It is divided into natural rubber and synthetic rubber. Natural rubber is processed from colloid extracted from plants such as rubber trees and rubber grass; synthetic rubber is obtained by polymerization of various monomers. Rubber products are widely used in various aspects of industry or life.

Generally speaking, silicone is colorless and high temperature resistant, hygienic and safe, and can be used in medical equipment. Silicone cannot be ignited by fire, while rubber has good extensibility, but is not resistant to high temperatures and has a strong odor. It will catch fire at the touch of a finger. It should be used more in sealing rings for automobile tires and general equipment, etc.

Silicone rubber sealing strips and rubber sealing strips are different, although there is only one word difference. From the composition point of view: silicone rubber is a highly active adsorption material, which is an amorphous substance; while rubber is a latex extracted from plants such as rubber trees and rubber grass.

Although silicone rubber sealing strips have good heat resistance, cold resistance, insulation, conductivity, flame retardancy and other functional advantages, it is still necessary to select appropriate silicone rubber sealing strips according to actual conditions during use, so as to avoid poor use of sealing strips and avoid waste.
